Why does the “Nabe Chatter” now only show the last three comments? It was much better when it showed a dozen or so.

  • ColumbiaHeightster

Hello neighbors. Can someone please recommend a cleaning person/service?

  • GHB

Why did the gardener spread all that new soil (or compost) on the Promenade gardens while all the tulips and daffodils are still in bloom? Wouldn’t it have made sense to wait a week or two so as not to damage them?

widget in left column displays latest comments as well.

  • Wiley E.

    Bow, wow.

I suggest reading the April 22nd opinion piece in the Brooklyn Eagle suggesting philanthropy as the way forward on the Library Issue. The Library administration needs to rethink their current plan of giveaways to developers, destruction and privatizing before they destroy any credability they have left with the community. The good will felt for the library is quickly dwindling.
Also note the controversy in Prospect Park over the public lockout to the Audabon Center on the weekends. The Prospect Park Alliance which is a non-profit has done this.
People are not happy. Who runs these institutions that have taken control of our civic assests?. The executives at Prospect Park Alliance, Brooklyn Public Library, SUNY Downstate and Brooklyn Bridge Park are a new level of autocratic bureaucrats.. Who elected them

Has anyone installed an Ikea kitchen in their apartment? If so can you recommend someone you worked with that could do that as well as some work on the soffit and floors? Thanks!

  • sir henry cadman

The DOB disapproved our application for an alt2 permit. It took
a month for our architect to see the examiner to review his objections. All
objections were dealt with except one. Now my architect is saying that it will
be another month before the examiner can see him again to review this last hold
up, is this normal? There isn’t a faster way?

  • Cranberry Beret

Yes but not the thread it’s from. No context=not going to read it.

    Grrrr….

Can anyone suggest some fun, kid-friendly indoor activities? My niece and nephew (ages 3 and 5) are going to visit next week. If the weather is nice, we’ll go for walks and visit the playgrounds. But, if it rains, I’m not sure where to take them. Any tips? Thanks!

  • GHB

Take them to the Brooklyn Museum. They’re never too young for that

  • marsha rimler

Make fun- but our institutions are being privatized as you wire

  • marsha rimler

    I meant as you write

    Thanks GHB!

  • Poplar

NY Transit Museum (Boerum & Schermerhorn) is great for those ages.

Is anyone else annoyed by the blatant disregard by dog walkers for the neighborhood trees, sides of buildings and middle of the sidewalks being urine riddled by their pets? I can’t help but notice many of the dead trees in our Historic Landmark neighborhood….let alone the smell of urine as I enter my building! I can’t be the only one!

  • JellyB

Anyone know the reason there was a mini protest in front of 1 Brooklyn around 3 pm.

Marsha: “Wiley” and I are having a bit of fun about something that has nothing to do with the Library, LICH, or any other “privatization” issue. For the record, I’m on your side on these matters.

  • David on Middagh

I think the default sort (“Best”) messed up the order of the comments, making it look as if Wiley posted right after Marsha. Sorting by “Oldest” at top makes the true order plain.

  • Joe A

A complaint about dog urine? No that has never been discussed on BHB. Surprised no one has ever brought it up.

  • Joe A

3 years old might be a bit young to appreciate the historical interest of the Transit Museum. Just saying.

  • Joe A

I agree, that was a good feature now made rather useless.

  • Joe A

    Not really

  • Pita

Dogs being allowed to do their business in or near the tree pits are causing the trees to die off because of high concentration of their urine. Since when is ‘Please curb your dog’ an inconvenience? Guess since it’s the dog walking their master (?) who is on the cell NOT paying attention!

  • Wiley E.

Bow wow was randomly placed by discuss. It had nothing to do with your comment. I’m with you too, Marsha.

  • Poplar

For sure. But the upper level has interactive exhibits like buses they can pretend to drive and fill with gas. And they have children’s art projects and readings a couple of times a week.

  • Andrew Porter

There is always something blooming there, I’m happy to say, and the pile of compost was dumped at the Clark Street entrance to the Promenade. It was do it Now or perhaps have the pile stolen or washed away. Time, tide and tulips wait for no man!

  • Marathoner

Does anyone know if the LIU pool and/or gym are open to the public? My wife and I are looking into buying an apt at the Toren and are interested in what access thepublic has to any of the facilities there. any info would be great! thanks

In late-November, ConEdison replaced a transformer underneath the sidewalk on Clark Street between Hicks & Henry. Since December 19th, the management of the St. George Co-op has been after ConEd to fix the sidewalk that they ruptured and placed their stantions about. ConEd has refused to repair the sidewalk and has forbidden the co-op from doing so on their own. As a community, we should all write to to the Public Service Commission and let them know about this. If you walk Clark Street in order to get to the subway, you know what a dangerous situation this presents. Please complain about this at http://www3.dps.ny.gov/W/PSCWeb.nsf/All/B40C096675BE10C085257687006F39E7?OpenDocument
