Cops Seek Pert Pickpocket Perp

Police at the 84th Precinct are investigating a larceny that occurred late last year, and say this bespectacled lady is the prime suspect.

At around 6:00 P.M. on November 17th, a 27-year-old woman noticed her wallet, which contained her bank card, was missing as she entered the Borough Hall subway station. Two days later, at a Chase branch at 8th Ave. & West 15th St., the person seen in these surveillance pictures, withdrew $2000 from the victim’s bank account.

The suspect is described as being 5’3″, 110-125 pounds, with dark-colored hair, wearing dark clothing and thick-rimmed glasses.  Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.

I don’t know about Chase but at my bank (Citi) you’d need a PIN to do any kind of teller withdrawal. Did the victim have her PIN in the wallet??

I don’t know about Chase, either, but at some banks you can do a teller transaction with a bank card and a photo ID such as a driver’s license. Presumably the thief got the latter as well as the bank card, and may well have picked the victim because she looked enough like her to pass using the victim’s ID.

I don’t know if it happened in this case, but you’d be shocked how many idiots write their pins on their cards …

Am I misreading this? A woman couldn’t find her bank card and “two days later” another woman withdrew $2000 from the account? The owner of the card hadn’t notified her bank within 48 hours?
