Rally to Save LICH Friday (1/25) at 11AM

This just in from NYS Senator Daniel Squadron regarding a rally Friday (1/25) to save Long Island College Hospital. The institution in is danger of shutting down over financial issues.

BROOKLYN – Tomorrow, Congresswoman Nydia Velázquez, State Senator Daniel Squadron, Assemblymember Joan Millman, Councilmembers Stephen Levin and Diana Reyna, and representatives of Borough President Marty Markowitz, Senator Velmanette Montgomery, and Councilmember Brad Lander will join 1199 SEIU United Healthcare Workers East, the New York State Nurses Association, nurses and caregivers, and community members to rally in support of SUNY Downstate Medical Center, Long Island College Hospital (LICH), and the hospital’s other affiliates – which are vital to Brooklyn’s already-underserved residents.

Last week, an audit released by the New York State Comptroller’s office made clear that there is a fiscal crisis at SUNY Downstate and its affiliated institutions. The elected officials will argue that the potential closure of any campus is unacceptable, and that SUNY must develop a stabilization plan that provides a long-term solution for the hospitals and Brooklyn.

@ Y’all – we are NOT going to attend the rally no thanks.

  • Mr. Crusty

Well, that is an added incentive for me.

  • HicksOnHicks

With all this vitriol against Gerry, I’m starting to feel sorry for the guy.

I think his post above is just one example of how he brings it on himself.

Gerry, we all know…your to busy, not having a heart attack, while you drive your range rover down montague terrace, while you lust after your au pair….after of course, you have one of the awful heights casino dinners you have to attend every month, and lets not forget, after you alienate all your neighbors….Gerry, you are a real diservice to this community…How’s that house hunting in CT going? we all hope you find something real soon!

  • MonroeOrange

you can’t feel sorry for someone when they bring it on themselves every day…though im still pretty sure he is not real, no one can be that big a douche

I do wonder if Gerry really believes what he posts, or if he’s a troll. Maybe the BH blog should have one of their questionnaires on that subject!

Gerry seems to love the north shore of LI. Wonder why he doesn’t move there.

This topic is TOO important to turn into a Gerry roast. have been a patient at LICH many times over the years — admitted via the ER — and I can tell you that it is an important asset to our community. I would be very saddened by its closing.
