Old Time Music at BHS Oktoberfest

Brooklyn has come to be quite a scene for old time string band music of the type indigenous to Appalachia and the Piedmont, from northern Alabama and Georgia up to Nova Scotia. At Thursday’s Oktoberfest, Stephanie Jenkins of Pearly Snaps (photo; Stephanie at right) and Luke Richardson provided some fine fiddle, banjo, and guitar music in the Brooklyn Historical Society’s Othmer Library. If you were there, I was the old fool in the corner who couldn’t keep from dancing. Video after the jump.

Where can we get notification of this kind of event before it happens? Sounds like it was a good one.

It’s been on the blog for days, and you can check the Brooklyn Historical Society website or you can sign up to receive emails from the BHS (and the BHA for other info).
