Brooklyn Beep Marty Markowitz, Congresswoman Nydia Velaquez and the LICH Medical Staff will hold a rally today at 1pm to ask for immediate action in fixing the crisis at Long Island College Hospital. The rally will be held on Hicks Street between Atlantic and Pacific. The public is invited.
BHA Executive Director Judy Stanton is urging its constituents to join the demonstration. In an email sent to members today she says, “As one of many communities served by LICH, Brooklyn Heights must act to prevent the proposed closure of the OB/GYN and Pediatric Departments. It could be a matter of life and death for families in the neighborhood if we no longer have a neighborhood-based emergency room to take our kids to, and this is in grave danger of happening if LICH is forced to close the pediatrics service.”
