A Peek Inside Montague Street’s New Starbucks

The new Starbucks location at 134 Montague Street, which opened May 12, was a concern for some residents because the new space was apparently so narrow that the mommy crowd was going to have difficulty pushing strollers to the back counter (opposing viewpoint: moms were going to be ramming strollers into customers on either side).

We took a peek inside the store earlier this week and while it is indeed deep and narrow—with limited light coming in—the new joint seems to have a wide enough public throughway to accommodate all. In fact, you’ll note a stroller parked to the right side.

    is this a sneek peak?

The new space is definitely a little narrow, but they really created an optimal layout that’s aesthetically appealing. I’ve gotten my stroller in and out several times without incident. And I’m a dad, Chuck.

This space is narrow, dark and just awful. Just goes to show you the addictive power of caffeine.

Can’t help but wonder if the real motivation was to keep perople moving in and out (i.e., buying coffee rather than spending the whole day there as some seemed to do in the old space….)?

Seems like it’s suffering from a lack of windows. The coffee at the Iris Cafe is 100 times better anyway.

PJL, maybe, and what would really be wrong with that…I can see lingering 20 minutes over a $2 cup of coffee, but more=maybe not fair to others who would like to sit. I’ve never understood why people feel free to sit for hours, taking up free wifi, and only getting a cheap coffee or drink. Yes, Iris Cafe may have better coffee and since they don’t have as much foot traffic it’s probably easier to settle in there. Otherwise, go to the library with your laptop.

She’s Crafty: I don’t think there’s anything wrong with it; just found it interesting/never really understood why people would spend the day there either….
