The Hollywood Reporter’s just-published list of the “35 Most Powerful People In Media” includes Brooklyn Heights resident James Goldston, who serves as ABC News Senior VP of Content and Development. The British expat—who came to the States from the U.K.’s ITV1 network—began at ABC in 2004, and is credited with breathing new life into the late night news program “Nightline,” which led to expanded oversight of “This Week” and “Good Morning America.” He is also responsible for developing new programs for the net.
THR notes that Goldston’s March 2012 promotion to his current role gives him purview over all ABC News broadcasts and its expanding brand, which will likely soon include a partnership with Univision on an English-language news channel. He commented in the THR profile, “ABC has a reputation as the home of the great storytellers. My role is to empower master storytellers like Diane Sawyer to push the envelope.”
Goldston lives in Brooklyn Heights with his wife and three young sons.
