As we reverently raise our hands in unison to the pop music gods and celebrate the 26th birthday of New York-born & bred Lady Gaga today, let us bestow a joyful noise upon the BHB’s weekly Open Thread. Comment away, you crazy critters.

SPM, don’t have that brand, but thanks for the heads-up!

What’s the deal with the dumpster parked on Willow St between Middagh and Cranberry Streets? The road is narrow enough without a very broad dumpster parked on the right hand side of the street – its too big for the fire trucks to get through and a general hazard – as exhibited by the orange plank of wood nailed to the dumpster’s side. But hey, sure the 1% matter most especially when renovating city homes and gold bullion does not burn

Parking advice, please. I have out-of-state friends coming to stay with me in the North Heights for a couple of days. They’ll have a car. I’ve never had a car in NYC, so have no idea how to unravel the mystery of finding street parking in BH or understanding alternate side parking rules. Can anyone offer advice about (1) the whereabouts of a nearby garage for a couple of overnights at (I can dream) reasonable rates (2) the feasibility of finding street parking and (3) a decent option if they want to leave their car outside the city and take transit in, coming from Northern NJ? Thanks for any help!

The indoor lot on Front Street directly under the Brooklyn Bridge is reasonably priced and only a few blocks from the N. Heights.

Street parking is possible, but I’m not divulging my “never fail” secret spots (only to say they are DUMBO) where I only have to move my car 1x per week and almost always get these spots. Sorry, but taking that knowledge to my grave.
