It’s Official - Watchtower Sells 89 Hicks Street

The Brooklyn Heights Press has confirmed that the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society has sold the apartment building at 89 Hicks Street to Brooklyn Law School.  The paper reports that the two parties closed on the property, built in 1940,  in July.

The Brookyn Law website now lists the building as one of its dorms:

89hicks.jpgThe building located at 89 Hicks Street was purchased by Brooklyn Law School in July 2006. Its single apartments are ideal for students looking to live alone. Hicks Street is located in the North section of Brooklyn Heights, close to the Promenade and the Brooklyn Bridge, and only a ten-minute walk from the Law School.

Does anyone know what the Watchtower sold the building for?

What the Law School also isn’t telling people is that they have denied the non-law school senior citizens who still live in the building access to the laundry facility in the basement. Not a fun time in January or February for the elderly with health problems who have to trek to Montague Street. I hope Brooklyn Law School cleans its own dirty laundry before ever considering itself an advocate for senior rights.
