Yes, one could indeed say that about all religious groups and I do.

Touch a nerve, did I, Topham?

Granted, religious affiliation is as you say, in the end, a voluntary association, though there IS the issue of cultural heritage. True, one is born black or gay–but born Irish, say, in the same sense? I think not.

The point I was attempting to make was that you never seem to miss an opportunity to express your dislike, usually gratuitously, of a group that has, as far as we know, done you no harm.

Given this irrationality, your reasons for doing so–your motivation–are of course relevant. People resist psychological explanations to the degree that they try to defend themselves against their truth.

    Aside from racism…

@Paul, ban motorcycles? Let’s be realistic.

Looking for any helpful suggestions! My bike was stolen from my apartment building today . I live on Livingston and Clinton. 3 day old beautiful white raleigh cruiser with a white basket. Stolen from the hallway. I am going to report it to the the precinct tomorrow but looking for any suggestions or help finding it. It’s a beauty. So incredibly sad.

Kristen, so sorry about your bike. Check Craigslist just in case. Also, general advice is to check outside the delivery restaurants within half a mile of you.

I would keep a picture of that model, in that color, with you at all times, including serial number, in case you happen to spot it one day and need the police to be on your side on short notice.

Oh, and I’d leave a flier with the local bike shops (I know there’s one on Atlantic, and then far down Court, and there’s the Recycle-a-bike in DUMBO) in case the thief/buyer comes in to sell it.

Be aware that the bike might be repainted if/when you next see it.

I don’t know whether this city has more bike thefts or bedbugs.

Thanks for the suggestions. It is not that bike :(. I thought it was as well but different basket and color.

I am so sad, I saved up for a long time for that bike!

Bike thieves don’t understand that *those are your wheels*. Not much better than car thieves, IMO.
