Saxophonist Roy Nathanson will celebrate his birthday this Thursday evening, June 23, at the New York City Transit Museum, entrance at the corner of Boerum Place and Schermerhorn Street, from 6:00 to 8:00. Nathanson and the group Sotto Voce will perform music from his album “Subway Dreams” (see video after the jump). Nathanson has collaborated with, among others, Elvis Costello and, as a member of the Jazz Passengers, Deborah Harry. The party will also feature an exhibit of photographs by Nathanson’s wife, Charna Meyers, from her latest project, The Subway Photos. Refreshments will be provided by Brooklyn Brewery. Tickets are $10, and may be purchased on line here or at the door.
