What Are They Building In There?

clark street commercial space

This was taken this morning on Clark Street in front of the empty commercial space (formerly Golden Hangers dry cleaning service) next to the butcher shop. What are they building in there? A drug store? A supermarket? A hardware supplies shop? A Staples? Another temporary space for Gristede’s? What are they building in there?

We have a right to know…

    Let’s start guessing…

    An eyeglass store?
    A cellphone store?

  • GHB

I’ve heard that it will be another pet supply store. Considering all the dogs we have around, it makes sense.

    Spicy Pickle II?

Come to think of it, I did see a big pet food truck across the street about two weeks ago, but didn’t think much of it. Oh well, so much for a good pizza place!!!

  • yo

    good pizza place?????

    um, try fascati

Staples? You guys always suggest it’s a Staples. Do you have Staples on the brain or something? What’s with the Staples obsession?

ABC, you must have us confused with some other website.

    A Federal Parole Office?
    Busy Chef III?

It will probably be as many asian restaurants as they can fit within the square footage allowed. Because brooklyn heights needs more asian restaurants. The 863 we currently have are starting to get stale. Plus northern thai food is soooo much better than mid-southwestern thai food – but don’t get me wrong, its nice to have both so, ya know, we always have the option.

Another Ricky’s? For the mad cosmetic whirl that is Brooklyn Heights?

  • Banana.

It’s a pet supply store, I asked one of the new managers on THursday when she was in checking on the remodeling. GOing to open early August she said.

If you guys dont like the food here why dont you open up a restaurant yourself instead of constantly bitching? Thai Grille was empty for about 2 years with a kitchen before they finally ripped it out. There are plenty of other empty stores you can rent and put a store in there the neighboorhood needs as you like to say.

Pet supply store? Great. That put’s 5 in a 4 block radius.

  • hickster

yep it is a pet supply store. b/c we dont have enough of those.

  • Ethan

    JDD:

Dude that was the dumbest comment ever. If we bitch enough about the Empire State Building would you recommend we simply open one of our own? I also can’t stand Saudi Arabia so I think we should all come together and open up a Saudi Arabia complete with oil and all and then we won’t have to trade with terrorists! Brilliant! Why didn’t Bush think of that??

OR there is the distinct possibility that we are qualified to complain, but not terribly qualified to open a restaurant. Ya know, the whole $300,000 required in capital, the staff, the food shipments, the ongoing bills, the chefs – I guess complaining about the amount of asian restaurants in the area makes me competent to pull all that off.

Actually, Ethan, Bush did think of that. It’s called Iraq.

So next time someone says “Why don’t you just open your own place?” just say, “IRAQ!” or something like that.

Personally, I thought the place was going to be the new parole office, you know, the one they wouldn’t let next to St Anne’s?

    UGH, another pet store? Seriously???

  • No One Of Consequence

Noticed lots of nearly-floor-to-ceiling metal shelves in there today. So excited! (not really, or not at all)
