Amanda Green, Restaurateur, Passes

Sad news from Steve Manes via the BHB Inbox, restaurateur Amanda Green has died:

Since Amanda has a lot of friends from Wine Bar on Henry and the original La Bouillabaisse, and in the Brooklyn Heights community in general, I thought it would be appropriate to let them them know that Amanda passed away at Lutheran Hospital at 2am Sunday morning from complications related to pancreatic cancer. Her mother and two of her close friends were with her. Funeral and memorial arrangements are being worked on today.

Our condolences to Amanda’s family and friends.

I was heartsick to learn, belatedly, about Amanda. I met Amanda last summer when my husband and I decided to have my 5oth birthday party at the Henry St. space that was then Common Ground. Amanda was the consummate host and party planner. Generous, imaginative, overflowing with ideas to make us and our guests happy and comfortable. Having recently lost my mother to pancreatic cancer, I was awed by Amanda’s courage and vitality and so happy for her apparent good health. We had the pleasure of also knowing Amanda’s sweet and adorable son and daughter. The world has lost truly a special person. We will miss her terribly but we were so glad to have known her.

Amanda: my friend. So brave, so full of life, so full of energy. Never letting anyone/anything get you down. I wish I could have been there for you more. My sister Mary also passed on May 22nd. You two never had the chance to complete your video. I would love to get in touch with that woman who started it and never followed through. Nicholas & Layla – your mother completed her life cycle…. enjoy your own like she did. I will never forget my friend. My love to all of you. As ever, Bridget. xxx
