The Brooklyn Women’s Exchange (disclosure: your correspondent’s wife is active in the work of the Exchange) is holding its annual end-of-season sale from now through Friday, June 11, after which the shop will close for the summer and reopen on September 11, 2010. Discounts of 25% to 40% will be offered on many handcrafted items, including children’s clothing, jewelry, home decor, and gifts. The Exchange is a not-for-profit, volunteer-run shop that was founded in 1854, and provides a market for goods produced by independent craftspeople, many from the local area, who receive 70% of the proceeds of every item of theirs sold. It is located at 55 Pierrepont Street, between Henry and Hicks. For more information, see the BWE website.
