Explosion in DUMBO

There’s been a transformer explosion in DUMBO.   Donald Brennan at MyHomeBrooklyn sent in these photos.  DUMBONYC has more info:

There are reports of an explosion/fire on Water Street between Adams and Washington Streets in Dumbo due to a transformer malfunction, approximately 20 minutes ago at 3pm. FDNY are at the scene to control the situation. More coming soon…

[UPDATE 3:39pm: Power seems to be online at 45 Main, 55 Wash, 133 Water, and 84 Front despite transformer explosions. ConEd/FDNY on scene.]

    This is actually halfway on topic since we’re talking about Dumbo. (I would have posted in this week’s OT, but…)

    Has anyone recently been to the re-invented Five Front Street restaurant, which has now become a “gastropub” called Brooklyn Bridge Gardens? The outdoor space is pretty, and if it has become a biergarten with decent food options rather than just an upscale bistro with erratic service, I’d be really psyched.
