Free Häagen-Dazs May 14th!

ice-creamThough Brooklyn Heights has felt like an icebox the last few days, tomorrow’s weather forecast calls for 78 degrees with 100% chance of free ice cream. That’s right—Häagen-Dazs is celebrating its 50th birthday by giving special thanks to the customers at its first store on Montague St. Free scoops of their original flavors—chocolate, vanilla and coffee—will be available Friday from noon-10 p.m. Happy Birthday!

    Holy deity! HD is FIFTY years old? Seems like only yesterday when I first discovered the HD container, with its odd gold webby-lacy design, in a supermarket freezer.

    In the beginning, before the brand was bought by General Electric (or whomever), it was really, realty good. Now it’s just really good.
