VP Biden and Wife Dine at River Cafe

Yesterday, Vice President Joe Biden and his wife enjoyd a delayed Valentine’s Day celebratory luncheon at the River Cafe.

New York Daily News: Vice President Biden swooped into the city yesterday and treated his wife, Jill, to a belated Valentine’s Day meal in Brooklyn.

Trailed by a phalanx of Secret Service agents, the Bidens swept into the trendy River Cafe, overlooking the East River, about 1 p.m. They sat at a corner table in the dining room.

According to the Daily News report, the Veep had sirloin steak, while his wife chose bass. Jill Biden is said to regard River Cafe as her favorite restaurant. Update: Jonny Diamond in The L Magazine has some questions for the Secret Service agents who got pizza at Grimaldi’s while the Bidens enjoyed their romantic meal.

    According to the Daily News story, Biden was wearing a jacket when he was in the Cafe. He must have doffed it as he was preparing to get into the car.

    Does the vice president have a position on whether the River Cafe lease should be re-written to help fund Brooklyn Bridge Park? Staff did brief him on the whole cabaret license brouhaha, didn’t they?

    Joey B is a Scranton guy!!!! We are much tougher than you New Yorkers:) Joe B doesn’t wait in line, people form lines around him. When Joe Biden walks into the River Cafe, people take off their jackets and lay them on the floor for him. H aha just kidding. Ate there for the first time on Saturday and had an amazing dinner.

    “The trendy River Cafe”? In 1996, perhaps, but that’s not the adjective I would use now. Romantic, yes. Delicious, yes. Trendy, no.

    Willowtown, I think they probably had to wait behind John G Jr. Personally, I like the fact that Biden was biding his time in the area, but I have to ask… did Limo Force Two park in the bike lane?
