Levin to Lead Discussion on Manhole Blasts

Next Tuesday, February 9, City Coucil Member Steven Levin will lead a discussion about the recent underground explosions that rocked the neighborhood around Joralemon Street and Willow Place on January 18. All are invited to this meeting, which is sponsored by the Willowtown Association and begins at 6:30 p.m. at the A.T. White Community Center, 26 Willow Place.

Update: According to reader bklyn20, representatives of the MTA, National Grid, Con Ed, and the City’s Department of Transportation will all be present at the meeting.

Are any representatives from National Grid going to be there, or is this just a meet-and -greet fact-finding mission on Levin’s part? I’d like to think that, somewhere down the line, somebody’s feet will be held to the manhole fire.

Reps from the MTA, ConEd, National Grid and the DOT are all slated to attend. By the way, Councilman Levin has been very responsive on this issue. He was working on this meeting with people in Willowtown a day or two after the explosions occurred. I can only hope the utilities’ reps are as responsive.

Good deal, thanks for the update 20. Glad to hear that this event won’t simply be swept under the asphalt as an “unfortunate and unexpected accident”.
