Is it true those kids were singing an ode to President Obama?

Didn’t watch the video so not sure if this is mentioned but Machiorola and his wife now live in Brooklyn Heights. Both are very lovely people.

The Macchiarolas may be very lovely people but the building that bears their name is decidedly unlovely and, what’s worse, a fine building was sacrificed to make way for it.

Is this the building that took the place of the 1850’s Brooklyn Union Gas Company Headquarters? The one that had been so beautifully converted into a library? That was the loveliest historic commercial edifice in the Borough. It was in the words of the AIA Guide a “miraculous survivior”. Oh my gosh, it was such a mistake to tear it down and to not even save the exquisite facade. Shame, shame, shame, forever. How could any professionally licensed architect have taken part in that travesty?

“DING! DING!—FRANK MACCHIAROLA, ‘THE FIGHTING PROFESSOR!!!'”….

I can’t believe I remember that bizarre comptroller campaign commercial from twenty years ago.
