Brooklyn Bridge Park has a very effective full time staff who take care of day-to-day park maintenance, but relies on volunteers to help with the intensive work needed when winter yields to spring. This Thursday, March 30, and on Monday, April 3, from 9:00 a.m. to noon, volunteers are needed for “Spring Spruce-Up and Cutback,” at which they may
enjoy the outdoors and getting their hands dirty as they help prepare the park for a new growing season. Volunteers, with various levels of experience, support BBP Gardeners by cutting back overwintered grasses and perennials, removing winter debris, and helping tidy up the planting beds.
If you would like to participate, please register here and you will be given directions to the meeting place.
Should you be interested in being a park volunteer for this and future opportunities, there will be a Volunteer Orientation at REI SoHo, Community Room, 303 Lafayette Street in Manhattan this Thursday evening, March 30, from 7:00 to 8:00. If you wish to attend, please fill out a Volunteer Application, then follow the directions here.
