Nabe pooch "Nigel" a Chihuahua/Jack Russell mix, who hails from Willow Street and frolics at Hillside Dog Park, is featured in a unique photo exhibit, "Brooklyn Rescues", at Willie's Dawgs in Park Slope.
The recently opened swank new hot doggery (of the edible kind) is an homage to owners Ellen Lutter and Tom Anderson's beloved late black lab Willie, who according to exhibit photog K.C. Bailey, loved tasty dawgs. Willie and all the pups featured in the displays are dogs who have been rescued in and around Brooklyn.
Bailey tells us via e-mail, "I will be photographing pups who need adoption in the future, and rotating the dioramas. Hopefully we can get some animals adopted. About those dioramas — I looked around at other restaurants with art on the walls, and they were all black frames with white mats, not that interesting. I wanted to have people look at animals as unique individuals. So I thought of stuffing the frames with doggie and hot dog things plus the story of each dog in a way that was accessible to kids as well as adults."
As for Nigel (and his owner Scott), Bailey adds, "Nigel is a special little pup. All spunk and the attitude of a big dog. His parents are fabulous, and work with him well. I am thrilled to see him get the attention he deserves after being found on the streets with no home."
