The seventh annual Brooklyn Folk Festival will be in a new, more spacious venue, St. Ann & the Holy Trinity Church, Clinton and Montague streets, the weekend of Friday, April 17 through Sunday, April 19. Among the acts will be Brooklyn’s own Naomi Shelton and the Gospel Queens, who rocked Plymouth Church along with the Impressions just over a year ago, and Peter Stampfel (photo), formerly of 1960s acid-folk exponents the Holy Modal Rounders. Another ex-Rounder, Michael Hurley, is also on the program. There’s a full schedule here. There will also be lectures, films, workshops, square dancing, and a banjo-tossing competition in which the winner gets–a banjo. The events schedule is here. You can buy tickets here.
