The New York Times has weighed in on the contest to replace Joan Millman in the 52nd Assembly District as Jo Anne Simon has been endorsed by the Times Editorial Board.
Assembly District 52 (Brooklyn Heights, Cobble Hill, Boerum Hill, parts of Prospect Heights): Voters are fortunate to have two good candidates to replace the departing assemblywoman, Joan Millman. Jo Anne Simon, a respected lawyer, has been a stalwart worker for the community, helping to fight Vito Lopez, the borough’s tyrannical former Democratic Party leader. She is running against Pete Sikora, a union official who has worked with reform groups, including the New York Public Interest Research Group. Both candidates have endorsements they can be proud of, but Ms. Simon is well known for her dedicated work for the people of the district. Of two worthy candidates, Jo Anne Simon is our choice.
To hear Ms. Simon, Mr. Sikora and Brooklyn Heights’ own Doug Biviano talk about their plans for the district, join BHB for a candidates’ forum tomorrow night, 7 p.m. at St. Francis College (180 Remsen Street) reserve your seat now!
