Brooklyn Heights: that’s in Ohio? Missouri? Maryland?…India?

It seems that America’s first suburb isn’t the only suburb to bear the name Brooklyn Heights. Just south of Cleveland is the village of Brooklyn Heights, Ohio, founded in 1903, to which Mayor Michael S. Procuk welcomes you in the photo. Then there’s Brooklyn Heights, Missouri, a village (pop. 100) in Jasper County, part of the Joplin Metropolitan Statistical Area. Baltimore has a section called Brooklyn that may have a portion called the Heights, as attested by the existence of a Brooklyn Heights Methodist Church.

You want exotic? A developer has planned a four building high rise “electronic city” in Bangalore, India’s high tech capital, called Prestige Brooklyn Heights.

But we’ll always be the original and best Brooklyn Heights.

I typed “Brooklyn Heights” into a eBay search one day to see what would pop up. I found a Brooklyn Heights Police Department patch (presumably from Ohio) for $4, which now hangs on the wall next to my desk at work.

    Looks like BHB found Google…

I’ve had a Google alert set up for “Brooklyn Heights” for a couple of years, and have been getting occasional hits for the communities in Ohio, Missouri, and Maryland. A couple of weeks ago I got a link to the YouTube ad for Prestige Brooklyn Heights in Bangalore, and thought it might interest some of our readers to know about these other places.

This looks like a nice place to visit. I wonder if they have a crummy section of town?

Yes Gerry, every town has a crummy section.
