The Brooklyn Film & Arts Festival will present Brooklyn Dynamics: Converging Lives on Film, a screening of three documentaries, at the Brooklyn Historical Society, 128 Pierrepont Street (corner of Clinton), starting at 7:00 p.m. Friday (December 7). The films are: I Remember Barbra, reminiscences of Brooklyn born Barbra Streisand (photo) by those who have known her (director Kevin Burns–note, that’s Kevin, not Ken–will be on hand to speak and take questions); The Hole, about a phantasmagoric landscape on the Brooklyn-Queens border patrolled by the Federation of Black Cowboys of New York; and iDance Video With Russians on the Brooklyn Bridge (the title is self-explanatory). Also on Friday evening starting at 7:00, faithful BHB reader and some time commenter Lauren will host an event at Vineapple, 71 Pineapple Street. In her words, the gathering is
to celebrate the holidays and the closing of my current photography exhibit there. Many of my images on display have been taken in and around the neighborhood. It’s free and Vineapple will be offering drink specials. All are welcome to attend– the more, the merrier! I only post occasionally, but I read the blog every day and it would be fun to put faces to screen names.

Congregation Mount Sinai, 250 Cadman Plaza West (near Clark Street) is presenting “a Judeo-Latin-Jazz Holiday Adventure featuring Eugene Marlow’s Heritage Ensemble and our very own Cantor Shira Lissek” this Sunday, December 9, starting at 4:00 p.m. Admission is $20; or $8 for students.
