It made a sound, and there were plenty of people around to hear it. Fortunately, the huge limb that came crashing down on Old Fulton St. near Furman St. just before 9:00 p.m. only hurt a few cars. The Fire Department responded to the scene and sawed the remnants of the tree into manageable chunks, which will later be handled by the Parks Department. It was unclear why this Brooklyn tree decided to stop growing, but it may have been a late-bloomer in the casualty list of city arbor caused by Tuesday night’s storm.
