Please bear with BHB as I take a first stab at Subway Service Alerts, while Claude takes a much-needed breather. I am not, and have never professed to be, of Claude Scales’ caliber in alerting the neighborhood to anything, much less the inscrutable weekend subway service changes. How do tourists, especially non-English speakers, figure out how to get to Times Square or Washington Square Park or Washington St. for a selfie with the Manhattan Bridge in the background? Anyway, here’s what seems to be the weekend scenario. If you’re still brave enough to ride the subways…
No 2 or 3 service going either way at Clark St., Borough Hall, or Hoyt St. from Fri, July 1, 11:30 p.m. to Mon, July 4, 5:00 a.m. MTA suggests taking the 4, 5, N, Q, R for service between Brooklyn and Manhattan.
No Brooklyn bound A service at High St. from Fri, July 1, 9:45 p.m. to Tues, July 5, 5:00 a.m. at High St. The A will run on the F line from W 4th St. to Jay St-Metro Tech. MTA suggests taking the F train at York St instead.
No Brooklyn bound C service at High St. on Fri, Jul 1, 9:45 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., Sat, Jul 2, 6:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m., Sun, Jul 3, 7:15 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. and Mon, Jul 4, 6:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. MTA suggests taking the F train at York St instead.
The 4, 5, 6 at Borough Hall and the R at Court St. look to be good to go.
As Claude says, “These are the planned service changes directly affecting service at local stations. Always check MTA Info for unplanned service changes that may affect local service or service on other parts of your trip, or for planned service changes that affect stations to or from which you may be traveling.”
