Congratulations to the Brooklyn Cat Cafe!

These kittens are more than just pretty faces: they’re also award winners!

Congratulations to the Brooklyn Cat Café on Atlantic Avenue, winner of this year’s Atlantic Avenue LDC Annual Holiday Window Design contest. Windows on Atlantic Avenue between Hicks Street and Fourth Avenue were eligible, and these cool cats netted a $500 prize for the cat café. The holiday window will be up until December 26th.

To celebrate, the cats will don their holiday costumes on Saturday, December 10th for the Atlantic Avenue LDC’s Walk the Windows event, and the café is offering free pictures with Santa Claws from 11 am to 4 pm.

Cats and mats!

On Sunday, December 11, join the cats and Luisa Noelle Howell for 45 minutes of feline-accompanied yoga from 9:30 – 10:30 am. The Café open at 9 for some feline schmoozing before class. The fee for the class is $25 and tickets can be purchased here; bring your own mat.

Holiday hours and events

The café will be open on Christmas day from 12 – 5:30 pm, offering gingerbread cookies and apple cider, along with plenty of cat cuddles. Other holiday offers: Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve: 11 am to 6:30 pm, and New Year’s Day noon to 6:30 pm.

Ring in the new year with the neighborhood’s fanciest felines at a fundraiser for the Brooklyn Bridge Animal Welfare Coalition, the neighborhood rescue group that runs the café. The Chill Cat Mellow Mew Year’s Eve Party will raise money for the BBAWC and café’s rescue efforts. Tickets ($50) are available here.

Since the Brooklyn Cat Café opened in May, more than 100 cats have been adopted from its facility. The café has also worked with other rescue groups and organization to increase awareness of how the number of outdoor cats can be reduced through rescue, adoption, and trap-neuter-return efforts.

The café is open Wednesday through Sunday from 11 am to 7 pm and Monday from 11 am to 5 pm.

Quiet hours for work and study are Monday from 11 am to 3 pm and Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday from 10 am to 2 pm.

Adults-only (14 years of age and up) are every Saturday from 5 pm until closing;

Admission is $5 per half hour, free for children under three years of age.
