It was a very moving and intimate event. By the end, though, one of the WWII vets had passed out and was removed by EMTs on a stretcher. Does anyone know how he’s doing now?

The man who had apparent heat exhaustion near the end of the ceremony was The Rev. James Blakely. After he collapsed, I saw him sitting up with an ice pack atop his head. The ambulance arrived shortly after. I just did a web search and found nothing recent; I hope that means he’s all right. The most recent thing I found about him was this piece by Pete Hamill from January 11 of this year: http://www.nydailynews.com/new-york/hamill-pearl-harbor-veteran-marks-95-years-article-1.2073589

A very respectable event indeed. I hope the funding for the renovations materialize soon.

Thanks, Claude. I read the story – wow. He was well-attended to, and I also hope he’s home safe.
