Bargemusic has a full schedule of concerts this weekend. On Friday evening, January 16, at 7:00, the Weilerstein Duo (photo) will perform works by Elgar, Ravel, Dvorak, and Enescu. On Saturday evening, January 17 at 7:00 and Sunday afternoon, January 18 at 4:00 violinist Mark Peskanov, cellist Nicholas Tzavaras, and pianist Olga Vinokur will perform works by Haydn, Shostakovich, and Beethoven. There’s more information and buy tickets here. Saturday afternoon at 4:00 there will be a free, family oriented “Music in Motion” concert, co-sponsored by the Brooklyn Bridge Park Conservancy. Doors open at 3:45; first come, first seated.
The Heights Players continue their production of Terry Johnson’s stage adaptation of the classic 1960s movie and novel The Graduate. Performances are Friday, January 16 and Saturday, January 17 at 8:00 p.m., and a Sunday matinee, January 18 at 2:00 p.m., at the Playhouse, 26 Willow Place. The play will continue through the following weekend (January 23-25) on the same schedule. You may make reservations here.
Addendum: On Saturday afternoon starting at 11:00 a.m. the Brooklyn Historical Society presents the first in this year’s series of free Saturday family programs. This Saturday’s program will be “Handmade History”; each family attending “will pick their favorite portrait in the We the People exhibit and return to the art studio to create their own interpretation of the person in the portrait.”
