Björk’s Biophilia App is the First to be Added to MoMA’s Collection

Brooklyn Heights resident/pop star Björk has the distinction of creating the first app to be added to the Museum of Modern Art’s collection.

In a statement, Paola Antonelli, senior curator of the Department of Architecture and Design, said, “I started thinking about acquiring Biophilia when it was released, in 2011. At that time, a year after the iPad had been introduced, designers and developers were excitedly experimenting with apps that took advantage of a screen bigger than the iPhone.
