Brooklyn Bridge Park is asking for volunteers to lead free public tours on weekends beginning in summer 2013. Its first Volunteer Docent Program “will play a crucial role in educating the public about Brooklyn Bridge Park,” according to BBP’s website.
Tours will cover BBP’s design, history and ecology, and take place along the Pier 1 and Empire Fulton Ferry sections. All prospective Docents must complete a six-session training program on weekends from April through June 2013.
Brooklyn Bridge Park Conservancy is accepting applications for 2013 Volunteer Docents through March 31. “If you love nature, landscape design or Brooklyn history, this is the opportunity for you.” To be considered as a volunteer docent, you must submit an application.
