High-End Fitness Center Headed To 120 Clinton Street

Following a Community Board Two Land Use Committee public hearing in January, a special permit has been approved for a fitness center to open on the ground floor at 120 Clinton Street and the corner of Joralemon Street. According to Brownstoner, the minutes of the meeting note the locale would be “a high-end gym open from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. on weekdays and 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. on weekends.”

No changes were requested for the landmarked exterior, while Landmarks Preservation Commission granted a “certificate of appropriateness.” No word on who or when. (Photo: Brownstoner)

I wonder what storefront that actual refers to. The building pictured is 150 Joralemon and it already has a new rock-climbing wall facility and a yoga studio on the ground floor (and neither has an address of 120 Clinton). Maybe it was supposed to be the building across the street that’s been empty for over a year?

I feel that we need a state of the art aquatics center here in downtown Brooklyn a 50 meter pool like Asphalt Green that opens at 5am

So get one built Gerry. Stop talking and start doing. Between your three cars and au pair, you seem well off enough to know some movers and shakers.

Good point Bloomy, How about it Gerry? If you devoted as much time to getting an aquatics center built as you do trolling this blog, it might become a reality.

Aren’t they referring to the corner (vacant) store in the newly rehabbed building at the corner of Clinton and Joralemon?

Gerry you are in violation of the site’s Terms of Service. I’m amazed Homer hasn’t banned you yet:

That’s what I was thinking … where the little grocery store used to be.

With apologies for the incomplete minutes, the special permit application is for everyday athlete (no initial caps, registered trademark), which is already operating. The address of record is 130 Clinton Street, so while the building is on the corner, the gym per se is not.
