Shooting at MetroTech

NY1’s Dean Meminger has just tweeted that a shooting occurred in front of One Metrotech Plaza.

According to the Brooklyn Eagle:

[A] single shot was reported at 12:50 p.m. in front of 1 MetroTech, home to National Grid and other businesses. One shell casing was found; no injuries have been reported. NYPD is currently investigating.

Police have arrested three teens, according to an unconfirmed report tweeted by Dean Meminger of NY1.

National Grid is One Metrotech Center not Plaza.

Sounds like it was a shot fired rather than a shooting. Willowtowncop would appreciate the distinction!

My husband works at MetroTech. I don’t care about the distinction of whether shots were fired or there was a shooting. I don’t like any of it.

@Knight – I worked in Brownsville – if it didn’t hit anyone, it was a firecracker.

Ya feel so alive when you have bullets buzzing by your head.

Agreed! But I worked at 4 MetroTech in the late 90s when a shot fired (as opposed to a shooting — which means they hit something) wouldn’t have made any news at all!

In Gerry’s defense, the post has been modified since he made his correct statement. When I first read this post this afternoon, it made reference to Dean Meminger’s tweet calling the site “1 MetroTech Plaza”

And to my point: it was not a “shooting” if nothing was hit.

I agree. A “shooting” generally denotes that someone was hit by gunfire. More properly it should have been reported as “shots fired”.

@ GHB it said One Metrotech Plaza and NOT One Metrotech Center get with the program wake up and smell the coffee.
