Saturday: How To Care For Mature Apple Trees

Trees NY Education Director Sam Bishop will give a training in the care of the mature apple trees in the Poplar Street Community Garden on Saturday, April 14, noon to 2 p.m. The garden is located on the NW corner of Hicks and Poplar Streets in Brooklyn Heights. If interested, please stop by the Garden. Space is limited so come early!

    It’s not open to the public. Or if it is, I’ve never chanced by when someone has been inside to let me in to appreciate the work. I’m glad it’s there, tho’, and that the gardeners have a local plot to work.

    I took advantage of the opportunity and went up there today for a tour of the garden and to hear Sam talk about how to prune an apple tree and specifically what to do with the two trees that are there. Very interesting place – their hours are posted at the entrance.
