Anne Hathaway seems to have a penchant for Brooklyn. The Oscar-nominated doe-eyed actress—who is starring next as Catwoman in this summer’s “The Dark Knight Rises”—has just moved from her BK Prospect Heights home to… DUMBO.
Both Curbed and Gothamist are reporting a goodie bag of details: She and fiancé Adam Shulman have moved into a rental unit in the Clocktower building at 1 Main Street, setting up house in a 1BR with home office going for $6,400 a month.
Hathaway and Shulman had been sniffing around various Brooklyn locales, including her temporary nest in Prospect Heights, before settling into the waterfront building next to the Manhattan Bridge. This followed Hathaway’s leaving her Manhattan digs at 641 Fifth Avenue, a $37,000-a-month 46th/47th-floor duplex, which she shared with ex-fiancé (and now imprisoned con man) Raffaello Follieri.
The New York Post notes that the couple’s sixth-floor $6,400-a-month DUMBO rental is a far financial cry from the building’s premiere penthouse space: the $19 million Watchtower triplex that has been sitting empty with no serious bidders (and was once asking $50,000 a month in rent). Meanwhile, the Post says, “Neighbors describe Hathaway as low-key.”
