Music Events This Week

If you are looking to expand your music knowledge or check out what’s new on the scene, there are two events this week at Galapagos and Halcyon.  The Galapagos space in Williamsburg has moved to DUMBO. This weekend they are hosting a music project.  Details after the jump.

60×60

60 Compositions from 60 composers, each composition 60 seconds or less performed in synchronization with an analog clock. Each song is accompanied by choreography and presented in 60 minutes. 60X60 is conceived by Vox Novus as a “churning wheel of new music production, performance, and dissemination.”

The Halcyon music store/lounge space hosts a listening session on Tuesday nights.

Nü Pschidt

On Tuesdays, local D.J. Peter Anthony hosts this music-listening session featuring the shop’s latest house, jazz, dub, soul, hip-hop, and funk records.

    The name of the show at Halcyon brings to mind my favorite French soda, “Pschitt”. It was formulated by Perrier, and the name is meant to evoke the sound you hear when you open a Perrier bottle. For some reason, they’ve never tried to market it here, at least under that name.
