The Brooklyn Heights side of the NYC Waterfalls project was tested today. Olafur Eliasson’s public art project goes live next Thursday.

    That looks very stupid.
The tower is hideous and the water
    doesn’t hide it.
I Hope it looks better when they turn it on for real.

That’s it!?!?! Hate to say it, but it looks like something designed and then rejected by Con Ed. Very disappointing disparity between concept and execution.

    The photos aren’t very promising.
It’s a shame that the falls don’t face Brooklyn AND Manhattan.
    We’re simply a backdrop.

Saw it this morning and thought “that must have looked better on paper!” Sure enough, I had seen the renditions and it DID look better on paper!

I hope they are at least going to cover the scaffolding. Isn’t it supposed to be all lit up at night too?

Um this is going to be amazing. NY Mag recently did a feature and the pics looked amazing in print….http://nymag.com/arts/art/features/47554/

Way better than Christo’s flags. That was lame.

Just as Christo’s Gates were best seen from a distance, the Waterfalls are likely best viewed from Manhattan. The rendering published in NYMag and everywhere else do indeed look good, but the real falls may fall short. Maybe today’s tests weren’t at full volume?

I saw it yesterday while driving on FDR coming into Brooklyn and it looked pretty lame even at a distance. It actually took me a bit to even realize what it was.

Sure does look like a lot of water is going to get deposited on the pier and not into the open water. With high winds, you could get a very muddy situation on the exposed dirt of the BB Park. We’ll have to wait until they turn it on All the Way…
