International Arts Festival Coming to Pier 1 This Month

On the remaining Saturdays of this month, beginning with this coming Saturday the 10th, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m., on the Harbor Lawn at Pier 1, the Brooklyn Bridge Park Development Corporation, with the sponsorship of Bloomberg, will present a festival of storytelling, dance, and music. Each Saturday, a different culture will be featured: on the 10th, Brooklyn; the 17th, India; the 24th, Russia; and the 31st, Haiti. Admission is free. For more details, see here.

    What, no home-cooked (but professionally done) food available at these festivals? No, not hot dogs. But how ’bout true Far Eastern Indian food? Hamburgers and greasy fries we can get in all five boroughs, but the Pier 1 idea spells “Come taste it, fellas!”. Let’s get the better restaurants around the Heights to show some interest. It would tell more diners about their businesses, as well as sell a lot out there on the water and under that bridge. Now what is it’s name?
