A fire occurred on the top floor of 108 Montague St. Thursday evening around 7:00 p.m. As I understand it, the fire was confined to a ceiling fan fixture on the top floor of the building, and it was deemed "Probably Will Hold" (not officially "Under Control," but pretty much wrapped up) in fewer than seven minutes.
Meanwhile, this afternoon, a car jumped the sidewalk and took out a few tables at Teresa's Restaurant (photo). One person was treated for a minor leg injury, while the driver of the vehicle was checked out as well. NYPD Highway units were requested to make an observation of the vehicle's workings, a practice usually done in either fatal or unusual accidents when it is unclear what the cause was.
