Firefighters put a quick end to a stove fire at 54 Orange St. this evening. The fire broke out just before 9:30 this evening in a sixth floor apartment, but did not spread beyond the immediate area of the stove.
The building was temporarily evacuated, but its residents were able to return to their homes a short time later. It was also reported that the Fire Department had to shut off a gas stove in a second floor apartment.
Firefighter Kevin Harvey of Tillary Street's Ladder Co. 110 lets off some steam after the fire is placed under-control.
