The Brooklyn Heights Community Fridge has been a neighborhood hub of giving, volunteering, gathering and feeding the hungry for two years running. Come out and celebrate the Fridge’s second anniversary on Saturday, June 17th, from 12:00-5:00 PM in the Peace Garden at First Presbyterian Church, 124 Henry St. There will be live music, snacks, repainting of the Fridge, and other fun activities.
Looking back on its origin, every goal of the Fridge’s founders has been met beyond expectations. Children regularly volunteer with local schools, St. Ann’s church, and The Service Collective to stock and clean the Fridge. Neighbors fill the fridge and others take what they need. The Fridge can always use more participation however, and the community is encouraged to help keep the Fridge stocked with fresh fruit, vegetables, and ready-to-eat meals. Since many of those in need visit the Fridge at night, early evening is a great time to help fill the fridge.
Thank you to everyone who’s contributed to the phenomenal success of our Community Fridge!
