FDNY is operating at 235 Adams Street at what has initially been reported as a fire on the ground floor, in the vicinity of the elevator. The signal for a high-rise residential fire has been transmitted, which brings a host of specialized units.
Update below the jump.The Incident Commander reports the fire has been contained to the base of the elevator shaft and has not spread. There is, naturally, a smoke condition on upper floors, but it sounds like they have a handle on it.
