Opinion: Karl on Middagh Street Graffiti and More [VIDEO]

In the few years that Karl Junkersfeld has been contributing to Brooklyn Heights Blog via video verite we have seen him sing the praises of Brooklyn Bridge Park, Noodle Pudding, Iris Cafe and many other neighborhood hotspots and landmarks.

Today, Mr. Junkersfeld’s takes on Middagh Street graffiti and some other issues. While his opinions do not reflect the ownership or staff of Brooklyn Heights Blog and its affiliates, we think you’ll find it to be his finest moment. Watch it after the jump.

Brooklyn Heights in Nemo’s Wake

Brooklyn Heights awoke this morning under a deep blanket of snow, as attested by this photo taken by your correspondent’s wife from our window at about 9:00 a.m. The intrepid Karl Junkersfeld was out and about with his cam, and took the video that follows the jump. Esquire Mag/DIY Network Made DUMBO’s Clock Tower Ultimate Bachelor Pad

Karl at Pier 5 Opening

Mr. J. and his cam were busy this past week. In addition to his visit to Julianna’s, Karl attended the grand opening of Brooklyn Bridge Park’s Pier 5 Thursday morning. In his video, Karl begins with a retrospective of some of his favorite BBP events from the past few years. He then shows the dignitaries gathering, Mayor Bloomberg’s speech, and the pier’s athletic field in use.

Karl Visits Julianna’s

When I lived across the great water, on that island to our west, there were pizza places called Ray’s, Original Ray’s, Real Ray’s, Honest-to-God Ray’s, etc. Here in Brooklyn Patsy Grimaldi had Patsy’s, then Grimaldi’s, and now Julianna’s, named for Patsy’s mom. Julianna’s occupies the former Grimaldi’s space on Old Fulton Street in the Fulton Ferry Historic District and a new Grimaldi’s (Patsy sold the name) is at the corner of Front and Old Fulton streets, that once was a bank, then an upscale restaurant, then a Latin themed night club. Mr, J. was at Julianna’s with his cam, saw Patsy and his wife, and got video of them teaching some tourists how to eat pizza the Brooklyn way.
