This in from the Brooklyn Heights Association: Dear Friends: In a last minute appeal, we hope that you will consider making (or buying) a pie for the Thanksgiving Dinner served to elderly citizens at Grace Church. It is organized by Heights and Hills, a provider of supportive services to community dwelling older adults in Brooklyn.

Brooklyn Heights People: Dan Horan of Five Acre Farms
To be clear, Five Acre Farms is not a farm at all. There is no pastoral landscape where cows graze, no ever-present smell of manure percolating the air. There is no big red barn, no silo, no wooden sign on an oak tree announcing that Five Acre Farms is two miles down the road to […]
Bevacco Now Serving Lunch
Bevacco [60 Henry Street] continues its Corner of Cranberry curse killing this week by adding lunch service. Mrs. Fink, Baby Fink and I enjoyed a great meal yesterday afternoon. Uova pizza, Bevacco burger and meatballs were super-fantastic! And with breakfast service coming soon, Bevacco should wash away memories of 60 Henry’s “bad old days.”
Art at Hanco’s – Racy or Awesome?
No doubt that Hanco’s [147 Montague Street] is a super-fantastic addition to Brooklyn Heights. Nothing beats their classic Vietnamese sandwich or, if you’re so inclined, the Bubble Tea. But we’ve noticed something there that seems oddly out of place, the huge mural facing the counter. Now, we don’t know nothin’ ’bout fancy art but the […]
Buh Bye: Z-7 Diner
The Z-7 Diner at 115 Court Street is kaput. A BHB reader sent us photos of a “For Rent” sign in its window along with this observation:
Karl Does Atlantic Antic, End to End
Mr. J. and his cam cover the scene from Hicks Street to Atlantic Terminal, finding lots of good stuff on the way, including predictions of the future for Brooklyn, the economy, and the stock market. Warning: if you’re trying to lose weight, watching this may be hazardous. See it after the jump.
Some Scenes from Atlantic Antic
Your correspondent and wife made a brief visit to Atlantic Antic this afternoon, where we enjoyed lobster rolls from Red Hook Lobster Pound, washed down with Sixpoint Atlantic Amber Ale. This was the scene at the western end of the event, Atlantic and Hicks. The crowd got even thicker as we progressed eastward. More photos […]
Bevacco in Brooklyn Heights Lifts Corner of Cranberry Curse [Video]
Our Karl Junkersfeld is such a man about town that the owners of Bevacco [60 Henry Street] invited him to attend their “soft opening” Thursday night. Karl’s kvelling and saying that the notorious Corner of Cranberry is no longer cursed. This…is a good thing. His video report after the jump.
Mr. J’s Atlantic Antic Preview: It’s This Sunday
Atlantic Antic is this Sunday, October 2, noon to 6:00 p.m., rain or shine. Karl has some video from last year’s event to get you in the spirit. Marty Markowitz: “It’s not about tube socks; it’s about real diversity, Brooklyn style.” In Karl’s own words: Now this weekend the 37th Annual Atlantic Antic graces our […]
