The (Anti) Social Media World of Rex and Guder
We’re learning more about admitted graffiti “artists” and members of the ”millennial” generation Rex Ikwueme and Joe “Guder” Daiuto, who frustrated Brooklyn Heights residents recently with a spree of spray paint and magic marker powered vandalism.
Both “artists” have left a trail of social media breadcrumbs which reveal a little bit about their personalties and world view. Read more »

Thugs Lift Hot Wheels on Cranberry Street
BHB newshound “BP” sent in this photo of an Infiniti M45 parked on Cranberry between Henry and Hick Streets. Its wheels were stolen at some point in the last few days. Our tipster adds, “ Looks like the cops are on the case already as there is white fingerprinting powder on the sides of the car.”

Cops Still Seeking Pierrepont St. Attacker
Police are asking the public’s assistance in locating the suspect sought in connection with the September 3rd attack on a 67-year-old Pierrepont St. resident.
Tommy Hairston, 32, of 116 George St., allegedly assaulted the victim as he got out of his car in front of 61 Pierrepont St, striking him with a 9mm pistol. Hairston fled in his own car, which was located later that night in East New York. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS (5477) or through NYPDCRIMESTOPPERS.COM.

Graffiti Vandals Collared
This in from Judy Stanton, Executive Director of the Brooklyn Heights Association:
The 84th Precinct captain just stopped by to tell me that the graffiti taggers using Rex and Guder, whose tags were found on public and private property all over the north Heights, have been arrested. Credit goes to the arresting officer, Freddy Ahmetaj, and the taggers, who were caught on camera, will be charged with multiple counts of graffiti.
Unfortunately, “Guder” was able to tag one of the useful Brooklyn Bridge Park maps posted on the Promenade (the one near Clark Street) before being caught (see photo above).

Police: No crime wave in Brooklyn Heights
In light of last night’s incident, police officials wanted to reassure Brooklyn Heights residents that there were no reported robberies last night and that there is no crime wave in the Heights.
“There are no crime patterns that are affecting Brooklyn Heights,” an official tells Brooklyn Heights Blog. ”Our worst crime pattern is probably a graffiti pattern.” Read more »

Gun Toting Thieves Reality vs. Hype: 84th Precinct Police Blotter – 10/27/09
After last week’s rash of robberies, there was a significant drop in thefts in Brooklyn Heights this week.
First, an update on several crimes last week involving gun play. Despite hyperbolic Brooklyn-based tabloid reports, police officials said today that the three robberies involving gun-toting thieves were not linked. Read more »
