More details on the Sunday night fire at No. 8 Remsen St. 3 firefighters were taken to the hospital (with what sounds like non-life-threatening injuries). 5th floor blaze to which 12 FDNY units responded.

Anybody know what brought out the exotic fire engines, like Squad 1 and Rescue 2 to Remsen Street tonight? Was out walking our dog and it was lit up like Times Square! Trucks on Remsen, Montague, Montague Terrace, Hicks Street and more around 9:15PM or so. Saw a ladder up in the last block of Remsen by the Promande. Hope everyone is OK!

Apparently. Stepped out of my home on Livingston to so much smoke I literally thought it was another 9/11. FDNY had it out within an hour. Motived me to finally find renters insurance as my place is attached to the same building.

Their croissants or raisin pastries were in the $3-4 range, as I recall. Not an everyday purchase but maybe once a week. I also suspect Paris Baguette down the street took away some of their potential customers.

Breads or anything concocted mostly of wheat flour, are the cheapest foods to produce.That’s why its so ubiquitous in the food industry.The food service businesses with the lowest food cost, pizza, bagels, doughnuts and of course bakeries.
You wanna pay $15 for $0.50 worth of ingredients, go right ahead, but don’t forget the lube!

As for me, I don’t by bread anymore, I’m Gluten-free.

I walked on the Promenade a few days ago, after the really warm weather apparently jet-propelled all the flowers and shrubs into blooming. Was stunned by how beautiful it was.

Lovely area, Claude. Looking through the fence behind, you can see the little pond with goldfish in it! I never knew it was there until the fence blocking the view from that exit was removed.

I see Le Pain Quotidien has sadly closed… again. Too many bakeries in the area? Or is Court Street not ready for things that are too upscale? (I see a pot dispensary opened next door and Popeyes across the way just got a facelift.)

I must have passed this spot 300 times over a not small number of years. It’s so very near where billions of photos have been taken, but this one is a gem. Had Monet painted it, it would be among his most iconic works.
