    Greetings from Bay Ridge!

Brooklyn Heights is now in NY State Senate District 26, and I’ve had some pretty negative experiences with one of the Democratic Senators in that primary race–Andrew Gounardes– that I think Brooklyn Heights should know about.

I’ve made a website to tell you more. It will take under 10 minutes to read in full: https://www.ambiguousandrew.com/

If you want a senator who unambiguously supports bodily and medical autonomy, never brings conservative religious values into their legislative decision-making, and doesn’t brush off their constituents, I ask that you take a look before voting in the Democratic primary on August 23rd.

You can contact me by replying here or through the contact page on the site if you have any questions or concerns.

Thanks for your time, and thank you for voting.

    Hi–
Went to Shakespeare in the Park last night and the UWS state senator made a plea before the show to call the Governor and ask her to sign the Stop the Chop Act into law. Her number is 518-474-8390.

Our local City Council member, Lincoln Restler, was interviewed on the Brian Lehrer Show. While the district is larger than just Brooklyn Heights, I was surprised that there was no mention of the impending BQE debacle.

Not Heights-specific but: NYC is in a “severe drought” situation right now. Give your outdoor shrubs, flowers and sidewalk trees a drink of water if you can:

  • T.K. Small

Doesn’t that make the drought situation worse?

  • Jorale-man

Not really. Most of our water comes from the Croton Reservoir which is at 95% capacity right now. It’s more a matter of redistribution as I see it.* https://www1.nyc.gov/site/dep/water/reservoir-levels.page

I understand things a little differently. From what I recall learning about the NYS reservoir system they feed down into each other and then the water ends up in the Croton reservoir. Just because that one is full, does not mean that the others are as well. Last week, I was visiting my family house in the Catskills. We are near the Neversink reservoir which was very low.

  • Banet

Neversink is at 78% of capacity. The system as a whole is at 76.9% capacity, normal for right now is 86.8% capacity. Lower than typical to be sure but the reservoirs typically run near full capacity – our area is blessed with more than enough potable water and that’s with the city using over 1 billion gallons a day (more than 100 gallons a day per resident).

i broke my arm last week in a local food store, tripping over a display on the floor in a too-small retailer. Have been to Urgent Care and then NYU Langone for treatment.

Was forced to cancel a long planned trip scheduled 2 years ago which can’t be rescheduled for when I’ve recovered.

Should I contemplate legal action? Or just contact NYC to ask for an inspection of the place?

  • FatFreddy’sCatheter

    Which local retailer?

  • Effective Presenter

    Mr. Porter,

We wish you a full recovery, be sure to get to physical therapy and a swimming pool, swimming is a healer for the body and the mind.

Both legal action and NYC inspection must be investigated ASAP, speak with a Court Street lawyer.

    Get well soon,

    Kevin

    Mr. Potter,

Vacation Insurance is a good idea the next trip you plan try and get an insurance policy

Yikes! I hope you are not in too much discomfort. When I started my legal career back in the mid-90s, I did some work for a Court Street personal injury firm. Feel free to reach out to me at your convenience and I would be happy to help weigh your options.

  • Jorale-man

Very interesting. I guess my only personal takeaway is keep the plants and trees watered but don’t waste water either. The city or state should (hopefully) enact restrictions on usage if it comes to that.

Like all insurance, sadly, the good ones (where you don’t wind up fighting just as hard to get paid as AP may have to to get “restitution”) are expensive. Lottery tickets have a lot in common with the old if-your-plane-goes-down, a $10 “policy purchase” will pay out $1Million – i.e., both have the house taking 90 cents of every dollar laid out, on balance.

Travel insurance is seldom THAT bad, but AP’s accident probably IS in the million-to-one (against) category, one where insurance probably isn’t objectively money well spent.

I think they’re still closed for dine-in but you can already place orders for delivery through Seamless

Me also used to watch the tv and am native of GoGibberyland. And we both have trollface as our avatar. I think I not vote for Mondaire Jones. Perchance

After doing a quick Google search, it seems that “Mad for Chicken” is part of a chain.

We know about insurance companies it took over 3 years to settle with Nationwide after Hurricane Sandy destroyed our home in Sea Girt, New Jersey.

I would hope vacation insurance would pay the claim with no event.

They’re open for takeout and delivery. I gave it a try. The staff are super friendly and the chicken was crispier than any fried chicken I’ve ever had. Strongly endorse.

Where has the Kustard King truck been?

  • Karl Junkersfeld
  • PierrepontSt

Is this a joke? He’s at the corner of Pierrepont and Columbia Htd where he is every single day from 3:30pm to 10pm. It’s excessive

  • Knight

It would help if you told us what the “Stop the Chop Act” is about.

  • Andrew Porter

“Commonly known as the “Stop the Chop Act,” this bill would allow New Yorkers to sue companies for excessive helicopter noise when it interferes with the use and enjoyment of private property or public park land.”
