It’s running on Showtime.

Extensive shots in the Heights, including at Aitken Place, the Promenade, Montague Street, the Fruit Street Sitting Area. Uses the exterior of Borough Hall as a library, with interiors shot inside the Othmer Library at the BHS.

However, my feelings have waned.

Its placement was encouraged by the president of the Italian American Historical Society of America, John N. LeCorte, who spent much of his life fighting prejudice. There is an article in the NYT from 10/10/71 that cites his efforts to get the statue in place, and a piece from the Society about LeCorte here :
http://www.italianhistorical.org/john_n_lacorte.html

Just as the statue bolstered those from humble beginnings from places like Columbus’s hometown of Genoa, a new name for the park and statue seem suitable a half century later. I looked at it for a long time today and at the people in the park.

I’m sure the statue inspired many over the years, but I support a change.

Was this store looted or just had its glass broken?

It’s got staccato!

Or are you referring to the late-60s? You’re not going all the way back to Reconstruction, are you?

https://www.nycgovparks.org/parks/columbus-park/monuments/298

“Merchant and art patron Marshall O. Roberts presented this statue to the Board of Commissioners of Central Park in 1869, but they did not choose to install it. In 1934, it was discovered stored in the 97th Street maintenance yard in Central Park. Parks’s chief consulting architect Aymar Embury II (1880–1966) designed a new stylized limestone pedestal consisting of a fluted column on an octagonal base, and the statue was installed that year in Columbus Park (formerly Mulberry Bend Park) in Chinatown. In 1971, following the renaming of the southern part of Cadman Plaza in Brooklyn in honor of Columbus, the statue was moved to its current location in front of the New York State Supreme Court Building.”

The injustice has to end and thank god so many of us are mobilizing and acting. At the same time, and this thought is not inconsistent, I love the 84th Precinct. They are diverse, and have been nothing but professional and overall awesome in my experience. I’m grateful for our precinct.
