    Never liked that place – everything is OVERPRICED, lots of produce not fresh & packages expired, and not very clean.

    I on the other hand depend on what I’ll always call Peas & Pickles, for convenience, for quality. I hope that this closing isn’t permanent.

    Hi all. In an effort to support local restaurants, my family is trying to order an Easter dinner from a restaurant doing take out and delivery. Does the blog (or anywhere else) have a list of restaurants doing delivery/take-out?

    Unfortunately to deliver the takeouts to their major patrons would take quite a bit of time since most of them are in the Hamptons these days.

    I haven’t noticed them having any cleanliness issues…And whereas I’ve seen no masks or masks being ‘worn’ around the neck by employees at other grocery stores, employees at P&Ps were always wearing gloves plus masks over the nose and mouth. They also still had things in stock that haven’t been available in other places. Hopefully everyone there is well.

    This just hands business to the real price gouger in the nabe: Gristedes! An outrage, for anyone who cooks in. Guess I will have to dig my hiking boots out of my closet to head down to the produce market on Atlantic! Like Hell am I shopping produce in the North Heights while Peas and Pickles is closed. 😡

    Hold the pixels! I just called them, and the woman at the register said they put that sign up, but have taken it down. So they’re NOT closing after all.

    I’ve never known them to be overpriced, especially compared to Gristedes.

    Any news about the effects of the pandemic on the BQE project? I think I read somewhere there’s $2 billion still allocated in the state budget for it. Seems like a good time to reduce the lanes now while traffic is down.

    Random thought: I’ve been noticing in my daily walks how much cleaner the neighborhood looks. Without people passing through, heading to the park, etc., there’s much less trash on the sidewalks, along curbs, etc. Even with some homeowners having fled to the Hamptons or upstate, sidewalks seem pretty clean overall. Hope this side effect of the pandemic can last.

    I spoke to someone who lives at 140 Cadman Plaza W., with a good view of the Brooklyn Bridge. Walkway empty except for one or two people; light traffic. Unthinking individuals who idly discard trash are apparently all sheltering at home in Bavaria or wherever.

    Still enjoying so much less sound pollution from helicopters!

    I like Peas & Pickles. You’re not supposed to do all of your grocery shopping there and items are priced for convenience. I don’t buy much produce there but it seems totally average for that kind of store. Staff is very friendly and it’s way cleaner than Gristedes.
